Crafting Crime Online Course Launched

Fiction Feedback has launched Crafting Crime, an online crime writing course with award-winning author and editor Martin Edwards.

The course comprises 12 modules and is aimed at potential crime writers with a certain level of experience who would like to learn alone and study independently. There are no classroom sessions, no need to review the work of peers and no other writers commenting on your own work. However, all writers receive a critique of their novel opening and synopsis from Fiction Feedback as part of the couse.

The modules are complemented by podcasts where Martin and Dea Parkin, Editor-in-chief of Fiction Feedback and Secretary of the Crime Writers’ Association, discuss the writing process in greater detail. Much of the ‘art and craft’ material is provided by Diamond Dagger winner Martin, supplemented by tips from international best-selling crime-writers, plus there’s a module written by Dea about critiques, editing, beta readers and the pros and cons of the various routes to publication.

Crafting Crime is accessed online and students can access and download all materials for six months. It’s a condition of buying the course that the material cannot be shared. During that six months the student is invited to send up to 4,000 words of their novel opening for critique, together with their full synopsis.
